I have recently received an important distinction. I received a message from AWS saying You’re exactly the kind of person we’re looking for… I have been officially:
AWS Community Builder
I feel that my work and willingness to share knowledge related to cloud computing has been noticed and it is very nice.
It is a great honor for me to be AWS Community Builder. Because the number of holders of this title worldwide is limited each year.
What is AWS Community Builder?
The AWS Community Builders program offers technical resources, mentoring and networking opportunities for AWS technology enthusiasts and emerging thought leaders who are passionate about sharing knowledge. Throughout the program, AWS subject matter experts will conduct seminars, share insights, as well as best practices in the field of technical content creation, increasing reach, and sharing AWS knowledge across online and in-person communities.
More information about the program can be found at https://aws.amazon.com/developer/community/community-builders/.
What’s so cool about AWS Community Builders?
AWS Community Builders members will receive:
- content and support in submitting CFP and securing occurrences AWS promotional credits and other access to AWS product teams and information on new services and features via weekly webinars
- Learn from AWS experts on a variety of non-technical topics, including content creation and CFP submission support and speech securing
- AWS promotional credits and other useful resources to support content creation and community work
- A few surprises!
Once I get my welcome pack, I will update my blog post;)
edited 🙂 … to find out what was in the welcome pack, see the video …
How to join the program?
The program accepts a limited number of people per year. All AWS-related content creators are welcome and encouraged to apply.
The application form for this program is currently closed. It will reopen in mid-2022.
If you are interested, please add your first and last name to the waiting list to receive a notification and be able to apply to the program.
Applications will be checked twice a year. While there is no single specific admission criteria to the program, the emphasis is on creating valuable content and the accuracy of technical content that helps other AWS-focused builders. Examples here include blog posts, videos, open source contributions, and presentations. Online knowledge sharing is also considered, such as AWS re: Post, Stack Overflow, Reddit etc. Links must be visible to the public to be valid.

How did I become an AWS Community builder?
Actually, I don’t know how it happened 🙂 Yes, I know this isn’t the answer you’ve been waiting for, so I’ll explain what I did. So I applied via the application form and that’s it. After a while, I got the nice news that I was exactly the person they were looking for and I was invited to participate in the AWS Community Builders program.
What made them accept me? I do not know because there is no specific admission criteria as I wrote before 🙂 I can only write that currently:
- I have been writing articles on my blog lepczynski.it for almost 2 years in Polish and English,
- Started my YouTube channel (I used to record some videos in Polish, but recently I started recording mainly in English).
- I participate in various groups and discussion forums from time to time.
- On Twitter twitter.com/WLepczynski I share various information.
- I have an account associated with a blog on Facebook, where you can find various information, mainly in Polish, about cloud computing.
- In my LinkedIn account wojciech-lepczynski you will not only find information about me, but also share information related to cloud computing there.
- I was a speaker at meetups and several events, such as SysOps / DevOps Polska
I mainly write about the AWS cloud, because I currently work with it more, so topics for articles easily come to mind;)
When I worked more with Azure, I wrote more about the Microsoft Cloud.
The fact that I am writing about different clouds as you can see does not prevent me from becoming an AWS Community builder.
I have knowledge from the Azure cloud confirmed by several certificates, and at AWS I only have one certificate.
I’m learning all the time, but it doesn’t stop me from sharing my knowledge. Soon there will be a small update of certificates, because I plan to confirm my skills and knowledge related to AWS with another certificate, so keep your fingers crossed 😉
If you want to learn more about me, you can visit the About me tab and LinkedIn profile.
Summary
If, like me, you share the knowledge related to AWS and this article has explained to you what AWS Community Builder is, then I am very happy.
I hope I encouraged you to take this step and that you will also apply for the program. As you could read, you don’t need any special skills to apply for the program. If you create good content, there’s a good chance you’ll get in. Good luck and hope to meet you together in the next edition.
I am sending greeting and I wish you good luck. In a year I will write what such a program looks like from the inside, through the eyes of the person who participated in it.
I’m not that much of a internet reader to be honest but your sites really nice,
keep it up! I’ll go ahead and bookmark your website to come back down the road.
Cheers
